Supporting Cacao Farmers in a Changing World
As global demand for cacao continues to rise, and a crisis in supply, is creating an acute global shortage, the farmers behind this essential plant face a rapidly changing world.
Climate pressures, economic instability, and market inequality, all present significant challenges to their way of life.
Cacao is a delicate crop that requires a specific climate, careful cultivation, and deep knowledge passed down through generations.
But in recent years, shifts in weather patterns, increasing costs of living, and volatile global prices have made it harder for small-scale farmers to survive.
Unfortunately, it’s often the farmers who face the brunt of it, and pay the heavy price.
Many are left with no real option but to sell into unsustainable commodity markets.
These markets keep the prices deliberately low, and the pressure to produce more comes at the cost of the land, farming traditions, and their wellbeing, while also pushing them deeper into poverty.
Our business was born out of a commitment to honour cacao, not only as a plant medicine, but as a cultural and ecological gift to humanity.
That means standing with the people and communities who grow and work with it, supporting them in ways that are beneficial, respectful, and fair, and ensuring our cacao is of the highest vibrational quality on the market.
We go to great lengths to ensure that every person involved in our supply chain is paid fairly, from the farmers who grow our cacao to the skilled artisans who craft it into pure, ceremonial-grade liquor.
We also ensure all our cacao is grown organically, from ancient varieties, on small holdings (chakra’s), so that the soil isn’t compromised, and the land isn’t deforested.
This is not just an ethical choice; it’s the foundation of our values at Ritual Cacao.
We believe in:
Sourcing directly from small-scale farms and cooperatives that practise regenerative agriculture.
Paying fair prices above commodity market rates, so that farmers and producers receive a just price.
Supporting dignified livelihoods at every step of the journey, ensuring value is distributed along the supply chain.
Championing small producers, because we don’t believe in mass production. Cacao is a slow food after all!
Reassuringly Expensive, for Good Reason
We know our cacao isn’t the cheapest on the market, because we care. We’re reassuringly expensive because we’ve chosen to invest in people, not shortcuts.
We’ve chosen quality over quantity. And we’ve chosen long-term relationships over financial gains.
When you drink Ritual Cacao, you’re not just getting the finest, most vibrant ceremonial-grade cacao available.
You’re also supporting a founder owned business that uplifts communities, protects ecosystems, and refuses to compromise on ethics, or excellence.
When you choose ceremonial-grade cacao that’s rooted in integrity, fair practices, and regenerative farming, you become part of a wider movement that values connection over consumption.
You're not just buying a product, you’re aligning with a way of being that respects the Earth, honours ancestral knowledge, and supports living systems over extractive ones.
It’s a quiet rebellion against fast, disconnected culture, and a return to something deeper, healing, and more human.
