Our Perfectly Imperfect range is the Ritual Cacao Bars and Pods we received from Ecuador that bloomed due to the temperature variations from the Amazon to Quito. We are offering a 20% discount while stocks last.

Cacao bloom happens due to the separation of cacao butter or sugar from the cacao liquor, causing it to rise to the surface and crystallise.

There are two types of bloom:

·    Fat bloom, caused by changes in temperature, and

·    Sugar bloom, due to moisture exposure.

While it might seem like a flaw, cacao bloom is a testament to the purity and authenticity of the ceremonial-grade cacao.

One of the most remarkable aspects of cacao bloom is that it does not alter the taste of chocolate. Despite its altered appearance, the rich, delicious flavours, smooth texture and medicinal properties remain intact, promising that wellbeing remedy with every sip.

Our Perfectly Imperfect range comes in 200g or 500g Bars, and are still:

  • From bean to bar

  • Easy to chop and handle

  • Easy to store

  • Beautifully designed

  • Individually wrapped for freshness

  • All packaging is 100% compostable & recyclable

ABOUT THE TSATSAYAKU ASSOCIATION

When you buy our ceremonial-grade Tsatsayaku cacao, you not only receive a bar of pure chocolatey love and goodness, you are also directly supporting an Association made up of 113 Kichwa and Mestizo families that is striving to produce and conserve ancestral cacao and provide a fair price to all its members. The cacao itself is grown in the traditional Kichwa or ‘Chakra’ method, which has a conscientious respect for the natural environment and seeks to preserve biodiversity.

ASHANINKA vs TSATSAYAKU CACAO

Our Tsatsayaku Cacao is light, smooth and silky, making it the perfect introduction for those who are new to cacao. We find Tsatsayaku cacao is slightly less bitter than Asháninka cacao, and if you drink cacao regularly, you may start to notice distinctions in flavour, texture and how the cacao affects your meditation or shamanic journey.

Each cacao has its own personality and it's quite literally a matter of taste as to which cacao medicine suits you best! :) If you’ve never tried either cacao, why not start with our taster pack to see which one you prefer?
